I want part 2
I want my house to have central heating and refrigerated air conditioning.

I want it to have completely modern up-to-code wiring adequate for a computerized lifestyle.

I want a small yard and deck that back onto a lovely wilderness that someone else maintains.

I want my kitties to be able to run free in that wilderness and come back in through a cat door that does not cut through my bedroom.

I want all the advantages of a town house and all the rights of a home owner. (Condos generally combine the disadvantages.)

I want someone to take a good look at my computer and clean out all the bugs and viruses and settings that are fouling up my smooth operation thereof, while keeping the programs I need, want, and use. Plus a UBS hub and a flash drive and the second-to-latest handheld especially with book download features that make for easy and comfortable reading and total compatibility.

And - I want to be able to sit down with a medical professional and detail all the little things wrong with me and have that person be able to take me seriously, know what's wrong, and know how to fix it. And do so, either once and for all, or with instructions on how to keep it at bay. And withOUT ragging on me about my weight (still high but not abominably so - Weight Watchers says so!) and cholesterol, ditto. Hey - I've made progress, lots of progress. Recognize it instead of ragging on me "Come ON, come ON, you can do MORE, you can do BETTER, you have to do BETTER, it has to be IDEAL!" Grrr...

Well, I can help you with the computer cleanup. Might be able to guide you toward a decent USB hub, too, depending on what you already have.
As for the handheld library, have you seen Roslee's Kindle? Sure, it's Amazon, and not *totally* compatible with every little format, but she's quite enamored with it.

*hugs*

If you like, I can give you a detailled "how to clean and improve your computer " document that will allow you to do the most of it yourself...

One of my biggest problems with DIY computer cleaning is staring at the long list of files - especially the temp ones - and saying "Duh - what is this - if I delete it am I losing my ability to reach my bank or order online?" Because I have NO CLUE what all that jargon means, any more than I know who my firewall says has been trying to reach my program just from the ISP. Think of me as a slow child from a culture of DOS-level tech.

If what you want to do is get rid of the stuff that is malicious, you don't want to be looking at a long list of files at all. You want to download and install programs that are designed to look at what's there for you. There are some very good programs that are free for individual, non-commercial users. You can just run them then tell them to delete whatever they list as problems. If you have a bit of money to spend, you can buy versions that run resident and automatically take care of the problems as they happen. Which version of Windows are you using and what security software do you already have installed? ("Security software" would include anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware etc.)

As for temp files, you can throw them all away as long as they're not in use. If they're in use, Windows won't let you throw them away. The whole point of temp files is that they are supposed to be temporary and go away when the program is done with them. In truth, many of them don't get thrown away when they should.
