Quick questions:
Which jacket shows you have the sounder grasp of ecological principles? The one made from recycled organic cotton in the rain forest? Or the wool business blazer you got at the local thrift store?

Which coat: the clever one made from recycled soda bottles? Or your great-grandmother's fur?

Over to you ....

Recycling, using again, until the item is worn out makes more ecological sense than getting something manufactured recently.

(I don't buy very many new toys anymore, even! I can buy or just get from other mothers whose kids are older than mine, and then I can sell or just give the toys my kids have outgrown. I wonder how many households the Fisher Price Noah's Ark will end up going through?)

Use it up, make it do, wear it out, or go without. I've cut down thirt store dresses hardly worn to make nice things. Memo: go to thrift stores near fancy neighborhoods. I thus scored two Talbots sewaters with tags for 9- each.
